AFTER THE FLOP
The Second Betting Round, or the After The Flop turn is the basis for your strategy all the way to the showdown. The flop is giving you the opportunity to see 3 out of 5 left cards befoure the end, so you can get nearly all the information on your possible winnings, based on the flop cards.
There are many strategies and tips for playing the flop, but we will try to put the basic terms and situations here. Playing the flop is a matter of experience, knowing your opponents and calculating your Pot Odds.
The first thing you will see after the flop is either you hit or not your hand. If you played your J and Q on the preflop and then flopped 2, A and 7, then you should normally fold your starting hand. But if there is an opportunity to strenghten your hand, you could think of the way to participate in the pot and see what will happen on later rounds. There are several situations and fundamental ways to know should you play or not your pairs, sets or draw cards.
High Card
In this situation you didn't hit your hand, but you have a High Pair Draw - you could hit the highest
pair, which could win you the pot on the next rounds. This is a good hand to stay in the pot if you are in a good position.
