What
are the tournaments? Tournaments
are poker games where players compete to knock each
other out by winning all of their chips. The limits
on the tables increase, making it harder and harder
to hold on to your stack! The last man standing is the
winner, although additional prizes may be given to other
high placing contestants.
Are
all tournaments the same?
There are many types of tournaments: Single-Table, Multi-Table,
Freeroll, and more. Please read our full tourney rules
for details.
How
do I play in tournaments?
To play in tournaments, all you need is a poker account
at PokerWorld and some free time! Freeroll tournaments
require no entry fees. Real money tournaments offer
bigger prizes and require real money.
How
do I register to play in a tournament?
To register for a multi-table tourney you must go to
the tourney room. Then click on register and follow
the instructions.
Can
I un-register? Yes, for Single-table
tournaments all you have to do is stand up from the
table. In the multi-table tourney room, there is a un-register
button.
What
are tournament chips? Tournament
chips are the chips players are given to compete with.
They do not always reflect actual amounts of real money.
In freeroll events these are given to the player for
free. In pay events you can purchase chips by buying-in,
re-buying, and getting add-ons. The player with all
the chips in the end wins.
What
are the re-buys and/or add-ons?
Some tournaments offer Re-buys and Add-Ons. These are
chances to buy extra playing chips after the tournament
has started. You can usually buy re-buys immediately
after the tournament starts, but not until you have
less money than you started with. Re-buys typically
are the same cost as the buy-in and get you the same
amount of chips you started with. You can usually buy
more than one re-buy at once. You can also re-buy repeated
times (usually 5 times) before they are scheduled to
end (usually by the 5th level).
When Re-buys end you will generally
be allowed to add-on. Add-ons cost twice as much as
re-buys, get you twice as many chips, and can only be
purchased once.
Re-Buys and Add-ons add directly to
the prize pool. Since this is the case, they can be
done only if there is no prize awarded. Once a player
is knocked out in a place that receives a prize, all
re-buys and add-ons will be not be permitted.
What
happens if I lose connection while playing in a tournament?
Tournaments have a different disconnection
policy from the rest of the card room. When you get
disconnected from a tournament, you are required to
pay blinds. This way a player cannot sit out and coast
through as players knock each other out. It is the players'
responsibility to maintain and recover his connection
during a game. The house will not be responsible for
any losses due to disconnection.
However, should you legitimately be
disconnected during a hand, the software will put you
all-in. All-ins are limited per tourney. Should you
time-out (fail to play in the required amount of time)
while you still have a connection, you will not be put
all-in.
